Power is routed strictly to the front wheels (FWD) through Kia’s Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT)—a continuously variable transmission calibrated with adaptive shift logic to mimic traditional step-shifts under hard acceleration (the previous 6-speed manual was discontinued for 2022). Supported by a MacPherson strut front suspension, coupled torsion beam rear axle, motor-driven power steering, and 4-wheel disc brakes with ABS, the 2,844-lb Soul LX accelerates from 0 to 60 MPH in approximately 8.0 seconds.
On the exterior, the 2022 Soul LX displays Kia's modern minimalist front fascia with multi-reflector halogen headlights, auto-on/off headlight control, LED daytime running light accents, boomerang-shaped taillights wrapping around the rear liftgate glass, body-colored power side mirrors, rear privacy glass, and the restyled 'KIA' brand badging on the hood and tailgate.
