?? 2011 BMW M3 Competition — 1 of 1 Spec — $34,999 I acquired this masterpiece directly from BMW of Austin, where it had just been traded in. Being an enthusiast myself, the first thing I did was inspect the car thoroughly and go through the Carfax and available history looking for any indication that the rod bearings had already been replaced. I couldn’t find any evidence that they had, so rather than gamble with an S65, I immediately had the job done. ?? Rod Bearings Done at 105,910 Miles The original bearings weren’t destroyed, but at this mileage it was absolutely the right time to replace them. The engine received: ACL Race Series standard-size rod bearings + ARP rod bolts I have photos and video documenting the entire process, including the condition of the original bearings when they came out. While going through the car, we also found play in the driveshaft, a common wear item at this mileage, so rather than leave it for the next owner, the driveshaft was replaced as well. ?? OEM Muffler Mod I wanted the S65 to actually sound like the engine it is without ruining the car with drone or an aftermarket-looking exhaust. The factory muffler was opened and the internal perforated sections were straight-piped, then everything was put back together.
