With just 28K miles and two owners , it is one of only 50 California Editions produced and has been extensively upgraded mechanically while still looking remarkably close to stock . We recently acquired the car back from the same customer we sold it to in 2020 , giving us firsthand familiarity with this special Elise and its history. In 2009, Secant Vehicles completed a comprehensive engine and drivetrain build. The factory 1.8-liter engine was replaced with a LSJ 2.0 Ecotec engine and fitted with forged pistons, upgraded valve springs and head studs, a mechanical timing-chain tensioner, upgraded crankshaft sprocket and a baffled/trap-door oil pan. The block was machined and honed, the rotating assembly rebalanced and the cylinder head resurfaced. An M62 supercharger running 17 PSI , air-to-water intercooling and calibrated GM factory ECM bring output to approximately 280 horsepower , with a 7,200-RPM capability. The 5-speed manual features a 4.05 final drive, limited-slip differential and upgraded high-strength half shafts , along with a Secant engine mounting system and shifter refinements. Despite the extensive build, the exterior remains clean and essentially factory in appearance - exactly what makes this example so appealing. It retains the lightweight, analog character of the Elise while delivering substantially more performance than stock.
