Production of the Type RS-R was limited to just 500 examples for Japan, making it a particularly distinctive factory variant of the FD-generation RX-7. The anniversary specification combined the Type RS platform with exclusive Sunburst Yellow paint, special gunmetal-finished wheels, Bilstein dampers derived from the Type RZ, and unique RS-R-specific details.

At the heart of the RS-R is Mazda's legendary 13B-REW sequential twin-turbo rotary engine paired with a 5-speed manual transmission and rear-wheel drive. The lightweight FD chassis utilizes double-wishbone independent suspension, four-wheel ventilated disc b
