The quattrovalvole part of the name referred to 4 valves per cylinder giving the car increased horsepower, higher refinement and overall performance than the earlier cars. When the Ferrari 308 was introduced in 1975 there was much fanfare around the car as it was highly regarded as a worthy successor of the much loved Dino 246 and its styling is still considered one of the most beautiful cars ever built. According to Sergio Pininfarina, the inspirations for the styling came from the Dino Berlinetta Speciale that was exhibited at Paris in 1965.
