There are restored trucks, and then there are original survivors.

You can restore a truck over and over again, but you only get to be original once — and this incredible 1980 Toyota Pickup is one of the most beautifully preserved original examples we have ever had the opportunity to own.

This is a ONE-OWNER, lifetime Southern California truck with just 68,000 original miles, and its condition is absolutely remarkable.

Nearly 47 years later, this truck remains almost completely original from bumper to bumper. Every body panel is original, and nearly all of the paint is original as well. The only exceptions are some minor paintwork to the passenger front fender and driver's bedside. Outside of those areas, what you are looking at is the original finish that has survived nearly five decades in unbelievable condition.

And when we say unbelievable, we mean it.

The body is exceptionally straight and clean. The original bumpers, grille, lights, wheels, center caps and exterior trim remain in place and beautifully preserved. Even the bed is incredible. It quite literally looks as though nothing has ever been hauled in it. Finding an unrestored pickup bed from 1980 in this kind of condition is almost unheard of.

Open the door and it gets even better.

The interior is beautifully preserved and remarkably original, including the original plaid upholstery, original vinyl flooring, original crack-free steering wheel, original dash, original radio and factory air conditioning — which still blows ICE COLD!

There is something special about sitting inside a vintage Toyota that hasn't been taken apart, restored or recreated. The textures, finishes, materials and little details are exactly the way Toyota built them in 1980. This truck feels like stepping into a time capsule.

Under the hood is Toyota's legendary 20R four-cylinder engine paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. We have thoroughly serviced and gone through the truck in preparation for sale, and it is mechanically every bit as impressive as it is cosmetically.

It starts immediately, idles beautifully and runs incredibly smooth. The throttle response is crisp, the transmission shifts properly, and the truck feels tight and composed going down the road. Even here at Utah altitude, the little 20R pulls surprisingly strong and runs beautifully.

There are no leaks, no known mechanical issues and nothing waiting for the next owner to sort out. It has also been fitted with brand-new Toyo tires all the way around.

Then there is the underside.

The undercarriage is absolutely exceptional.

A lifetime in Southern California means this truck has avoided the rust, salt and corrosion that destroyed so many vintage Toyota pickups. The chassis, floors, suspension components, hardware and surrounding areas are remarkably clean and incredibly original. The engine bay tells the same story. Everywhere you look — underneath it, under the hood, inside the bed and throughout the interior — you continue finding original details that simply aren't there on restored or heavily modified trucks.

That is what makes this one so special.
