This 73 RSR homage is finished in Leaf Green and began life as a 1978 911 SC. It is equipped with a 3.8L ITB engine, G50 transmission, numerous chassis upgrades, and has been restored to like-new condition. The car has been driven only 800 miles since completion.

The donor chassis was stripped and modified to 73 RSR specification and rebuilt from a bare tub, with all components and sub-systems reconditioned or upgraded. The fabrication, bodywork and paint were completed to an extremely high standard by Automobile Associates. It is fully wrapped in paint protection film as well.

The 964-based 3.8L engine has larger pistons and cylinders, GT3 crankshaft, GT3 oil pump, GT3 Pankl titanium connecting rods, custom camshafts, rebuilt heads with 993RSR valves, and titanium retainers. Fuel injection and engine management consist of Rasant individual throttle bodies (ITBs) with velocity stacks, DTA ECU and a custom wire harness. The 3.8 breathes through Patrick Motorsports headers and sport muffler. The power delivery is intoxicating and its driveability is stellar.

A rebuilt G50/03 short bellhousing gearbox has been installed and is equipped with a 997 GT3 Cup limited slip differential (LSD). A 996 GT3 clutch and flywheel are equipped as well as a Wevo shifter.  

Chassis upgrades include MCS 2WNR dampers, Turbo (widened) rear trailing arms, uprated torsion bars and all new bushings, ball joints, tie rods, etc. All hardware was re-plated and refinished to new. A complete 930 braking system was installed with new pads, rotors and lines.

Braid 15x9 and 11 Fuchs are custom-finished in ivory to match its stripes with Michelin TB15 tires.

The interior is purposeful and simply appointed, with many exposed and painted surfaces including a smoothed/molded dash. The steering wheel, headliner, dash/doortops and other surfaces were refinished in alcantara. GTS Classics leather seats are installed, gauges customized and restored gauges, and a paint-matched rollbar was fitted. Classic Retrofit electric AC has been equipped for comfort. Bi-LED headlights are fitted from The Retrofit Source.

Everything has been gone through on the car: all systems and sub-assemblies have been restored or upgraded. All choices were tastefully selected and no expenses were spared.

After completion by MGM in Pompano Beach, FL, it was shaken down at Homestead Miami Speedway in hot weather, the owner’s goal being to expose any weak links and “see if he could break it”. It didn’t miss a beat.

Before starting the build 7-8 years back, the gentleman who built the car visited Singer to order a Classic. He loved the car, but came away desiring something more raw and visceral. That dictated all of the choices that led to this finished product, a more distilled and “purist” approach of what a streetable 73 911 RSR can be with modern technology.
