1978 Jeep CJ-5

Complete Pictures (including undercarriage) and Video at www.4-wheelclassics.com This 1978 Jeep CJ5 is an extra clean, all steel Jeep that spent its life in Nevada. The last owner told us this was a Golden Eagle, but we have no way to verify. The wheels are definitely Golden Eagle Wheels and the paint appears to be original but there is no evidence of decals ever being on the Jeep. We did get new Golden Eagle Graphics from the last owner along with some other restoration parts. There is only a bikini top that comes with the Jeep. We have $20,000 in receipts from when he purchased the Jeep in 2022. He bought it as an original Jeep and went through the mechanicals to make it a reliable running and driving Jeep. This Jeep is highly optioned just like a Golden Eagle would be: til steering, power front disc brakes, factory tach that works, clock that works, and 304 V8. The body is super clean and straight. It is all steel and solid. The Black Paint appears to be original and shined up nicely with some minor patina. You can still see the original spot welds in the tub which says alot about how solid and original this CJ5 is. It still has the original factory bumpers. The underside is all original and extremely clean and you can still see primer on the floors. We found no rust issues with this Jeep. It is a pretty amazing and really cool find. The interior is your basic Jeep CJ interior and it is good condition. It has aftermarket front bucket seats and no rear seat. There is no carpet and the original paint is still on the floors. All of the dash and dash components appear to be original and are working. The headlights, taillights, brakelights, and turn signals are all working. The windshield wipers and the horn work. Mechanically this Jeep is top notch and it runs and drives excellent. It is really fun to drive. The engine is believed to be the original 5.0L 304 V8 that runs strong with no issues or red flags that we found. It was totally rebuilt around 4-5 years ago and has only around 6,000 miles on it. It runs perfect. We did not get the receipt for that but you can see all of the new gaskets, freeze plugs, and reman tabs. The Crab was rebuilt at that time. They added Ceramic headers and custom Flowmaster exhaust. It received a new starter and new alternator. It recently received an new Yellow Optima Battery. The transmission is the Borg Warner T150 3 Speed manual that shifts great with a strong clutch. The transmission was rebuilt and resealed and has new flywheel and clutch kit. We have a receipt for this work. The rear axle is the AMC 20 with 3.54 gears. The front axle is the Dana 30 with 3.54 gears. The brake system was gone through and received new front calipers, pads, and rotors. The rear received new drums, hardware, shoes, and wheel cylinders. This is all sitting on a beautiful set of Golden Eagle Wheels (including spare) with 31 Inch Bridgestone Dueller All terrain tires.
