This is a factory sunroof-delete car that we purchased from its longtime owner in Chicago. He purchased the car in 2015 and enjoyed it throughout his ownership. He has recently decided to move out of state and slim down his assets. The car has been repainted Guards Red over a lovely black interior. This 911 has benefited from a complete engine and transmission rebuild, along with tasteful modifications to the original 2.7L engine to improve both performance and longevity. The engine was fully rebuilt, with the original 2.7L enlarged to 2.9L using a Mahle CIS piston and cylinder kit. The engine was also converted to twin-plug ignition. The documented work included: * Complete engine disassembly, cleaning and inspection * Cylinder heads rebuilt with new valves and valve guides * Modified for twin-plug ignition * Connecting rods reconditioned * Engine bearings and timing chains replaced * Intermediate shaft rebuilt with new gears * Time-Serts installed in the engine case * Raceware head studs installed * Engine and transmission mounts replaced * Electromotive crank-fire twin-plug ignition installed * Mahle 2.9L CIS piston and cylinder kit installed * Stainless-steel muffler installed * Rocker arm shafts and adjusting screws replaced * Valves adjusted The 915 transmission was also completely rebuilt, with the work including replacement of all synchro rings, 1st/2nd synchro hubs and shifting sleeve, 3rd/4th shifting sleeve, along with a new flywheel, clutch assembly, and clutch release arm. The transmission was filled with Swepco 201 gear oil. It’s been roughly 10K miles since the rebuild. Mechanically, it is running and driving strong. The engine fires right up and has plenty of power through all cylinders. The car comes with a clean California title, owner’s manuals, books, tool kit, and a substantial amount of maintenance history documenting the engine and transmission work.
