Niemi of Danville, California, listing chassis 119300XXX, engine 6390629, transmission 7393002, Recaro Sport Seats, Special Transmission, Tinted Glass with a purchase price of 24,420 German Deutsche Marks (DEM) equivalent to approximately $14,256.88 USD. A period Porsche dealer record dated November 26, 1968, likewise, records the chassis and drivetrain numbers along with its special equipment. According to the family, Mr. Niemi was a pilot for Pan American Airways and took delivery of the 911S in Frankfurt, Germany, with his wife before driving it through Italy and subsequently shipping it home to California. Work included removing the engine and transmission, replacing the clutch, resurfacing the flywheel, replacing the transmission main shaft seal, replacing the front shocks, servicing the wheel bearings, replacing the brake hoses, and flushing the hydraulic braking system. The fuel hoses were replaced, the fuel tank was removed, prepped, and refinished, along with the front trunk compartment. In the cabin, the tachometer was repaired, new front seat-belt assemblies were installed, the hand-throttle was serviced, and new shift-coupler bushings were installed.
