1969 Pontiac Firebird

The 1969 Firebird marked the final and arguably most aggressive year of Pontiac's first-generation F-body. It was also the year the Trans Am debuted, with just 697 factory examples produced, including only 689 coupes. That rarity turned the original into serious collector territory, while this white-and-blue Trans Am tribute delivers the unmistakable look with substantially more modern muscle underneath. At its heart is a Butler-built 461ci Pontiac V8 fitted with Edelbrock D-port aluminum heads, an Edelbrock aluminum intake, Holley Sniper EFI, HEI ignition, Doug's ceramic-coated headers, an aluminum radiator, Derale electric fans, and fresh American Autowire circuitry. A new TKX five-speed from Silver Sport Transmissions, McLeod clutch, and hydraulic clutch conversion put all that Pontiac torque at the driver's command. This Firebird is built to use the power. A 12-bolt rear end, CalTracs with split monoleaf springs, subframe connectors, tubular front control arms, and Viking front coilovers give the chassis a serious performance foundation. Wilwood four-wheel disc brakes, backed by a C5 Corvette booster and master cylinder, provide confident stopping power, while power steering and power brakes keep it street friendly. The Trans Am hood and rear spoiler supply the proper attitude, while the driver-quality white finish makes this a machine you can enjoy without treating it like museum furniture. Inside, the blue bucket-seat cabin features a center console, floor shifter, new carpet, new door panels, working factory tach and coffin gauges, Vintage Air heat and air conditioning, and a RetroSound Bluetooth radio. This is classic Pontiac swagger sharpened with fuel injection, five-speed control, upgraded suspension, and big brakes.
