1969 Oldsmobile 442

Representing Oldsmobile’s midsize muscle car, the 442 was marketed as an upscale performance car. While its rivals typically had a plain bench seat and only a front stabilizer bar, the base 442 came with fancy bucket seats and front/rear stabilizer bars (for better handling) on its standard features list. Here we have a beautifully restored 1969 Olds 442 coupe that boasts a numbers-matching powertrain and rock-solid sheet metal, underside and floors. The car has had a high-quality respray in the correct Sable hue, which looks dynamite. A white vinyl top, brilliant chrome and stainless steel trim, and a set of correct Super Stock II wheels wearing era-correct Firestone Wide Ovals finish off the car's head-snapping curb appeal. The interior also looks great with the seats, door panels, headliner, carpet and dash all in fine condition. Under the long hood beats the heart of the original 400 cubic-inch, 4-barrel V8 which sends the power to the 3.08-geared Anti-Spin (limited-slip) rear end via the original TH400 automatic transmission. The Gardner dual exhaust with the factory chrome trumpet tips provides the rocking sound track. Out on the road the 442 impresses with its refined yet powerful personality.
