Extremely rare Triple black 280 SL, including the soft top and hard top.. Shows 35k miles, but is TMU.
Matching hood/body-tag engine, transmission, and deck-lid numbers, original floors, correct undercoating, factory spot welds and headlight notches, and no indication of prior rust or collision damage.

Excellent history:
1968 — Gauthier Motors, Salem, Massachusetts. Sold new to Toby Wilbur of Elliot, Maine.
June 1972 — 36,780 miles. Auto Master Motor Company in Burlington, Vermont performed the 36,000-mile service and validated the factory warranty.
March 1975 — 65,318 miles. The same Mercedes dealer performed the 63,000-mile service.
There's then a gap in documented history until approximately 2000.
2000 — Carl Pearson, Maine. Approximately $8,000 of mechanical work was reportedly performed. LBI's review of the records and car led it to believe that the car had been properly stored and retained its original metal.
It subsequently passed through Cooper Classic Cars in New York, where it was represented as a well-serviced example with relatively recent paint. It was then acquired by a Mr. Pollack of New York City. Under Pollack, Euro Tech Motors in Edgewater, New Jersey performed extensive work, including rebuilding the engine, suspension and steering. Chrome was refinished and the interior refreshed.
September 2015 — RM Sotheby's Auburn. They specifically advertised the car's unusual specification: “Rare Triple-Black presentation”
and described 040 Black/131 Black MB-Tex with black hard and soft tops as an “extremely rare color combination.”
March 2022 — LBI Limited. Sold to Gary Labate of Boynton Beach FL who spent an additional $20,000 refreshing the engine. Car then sold in August 2026 to Atlantis Motor Group.
