1964 STUDEBAKER GT HAWK #64V-K61292. (Stock #4461.) In 1955, the renowned automotive designer Raymond Loewy was responsible for a slick-4-seater “family sports car.” Called the Studebaker Speedster, it was responsible for initiating the fabulous line of Studebaker Hawks which were to continue until the demise of Studebaker in 1964. 1954 was the best and the final development of the series with the “Gran Turismo Hawk.” This fabulously handsome car featured a classically handsome roof line, a Mercedes-Benz inspired grill (Mercedes-Benz and Studebakers shared the same showrooms during the 1960’s) and offered amazing performance when ordered with the “R-2” 289 cubic inch V-8 engine fitted with a Paxton supercharger, front disc brakes and a sport suspension. Ours is just such a car and is magnificent in deep Emerald Green with a luxurious Silverish Green interior with front bucket seats on either side of the automatic transmission floor shift. The engine bay is as immaculate as the interior and the gorgeous body and the car is most impressive to drive. The car came to us from the estate of a long-time collector and Stable customer and has covered just 79,606 miles. $43,000.
