1963 Buick LeSabre

Every once in a blue moon we get an absolute time capsule car. An incredible original car that is so well preserved you'd think you went back in time to its model year. Here we have such a car, and it's very easy to believe that the 47,369 miles showing on the odometer of this 1963 Buick LeSabre are accurate. Take a good look and you'll see that the Buick's body and underside are rock solid and straight, and the original paint, chrome and stainless-steel trim gleam like those of a meticulously-maintained 3-year-old -- not 63-year-old -- car. Open and shut the doors and the satisfying heft, "thunk" and precision would do a classic Mercedes proud. Factory turbine-style wheel covers with the Buick shield put the cherry on this classy, vintage sundae. Inside, this theme continues as it is immaculate from the headliner to the dash, to the door panels to the upholstery (preserved with old-school clear covers) to the carpet. The original "Sonomatic" AM radio still sits in the dash and yes it still works. Under the hood and behind that gorgeous chrome grill is the original 401 cubic-inch V8. That "Wildcat 410" Buick put on the air cleaner indicates the stout torque output (in pound-feet). That broad-shouldered mill sends the power to the rear wheels via the original and smooth automatic transmission. Out on the road, the LeSabre moves out smoothly, with plenty of power from the 401 and easy handling and braking provided by the power steering and brakes. With so much room inside, the smooth ride and the thickly-padded seats, six adults can ride in supreme comfort.
