1929 Ford Model A

This ’29 Ford Model A was acquired by the owner around 25 years ago and built into a hot rod. It uses a full-fendered steel body that was painted black, and it was fitted with a ’49 Mercury flathead V8, which is topped by Offenhauser heads and has a trio of Strombergs as well as headers. The engine is linked to a retrofitted five-speed manual, and it rides on steel wheels and has hydraulic drum brakes, a drop axle, transverse leaf springs, and a four-bar front setup. Inside is black tuck-and-roll upholstery to complement the folding soft top, and a rumble seat has been retained. This Model A is now offered on dealer consignment with a Washington title listing the car as a 1929 Ford Road Coupe. The steel body and fenders are painted black with urethane, and the car has a folding soft top, steel running boards, a louvered hood, and a chrome grille shell. Staggered rubber is mounted on the 15″ steel wheels, which have trim rings and hubcaps. Hydraulic drum brakes and a drop axle were fitted along with a four-bar front setup. The steering box seeps fluid, as do the brake and clutch cylinders. Black tuck-and-roll leather upholstery covers the bench seat and rumble seat. Carpeting lines the floors, and the driver is provided a more modern four-spoke wheel, a tilt column, and a floor shifter for the five-speed. VDO gauges have been installed in the dashboard, which has a 2014 Concours participation plaque affixed on the right side. The owner added all of the 3,800 miles indicated. The ’49 Mercury 255ci flathead V8 is topped by Offenhauser heads and a trio of Stromberg 97s mounted on an Offenhauser manifold. Headers are linked to a dual exhaust system with glasspacks, and an electric fan cools the radiator. A leak is noted at the rear of the engine, and the seller notes that the most recent service completed included new fuel lines for saddle tanks, a radiator flush, syncing and rebuilding the carburetor, and fluid changes. The five-speed manual is linked to a narrowed Ford 9″ rear end. The car is titled as a 1929 Ford Road Coupe using VIN A1344497. The title carries an Antique brand.
