1929 Ford Model A Tudor Sedan Many factors contribute to the safety of the new Ford. The safety of the new Ford comes not only from its efficient brakes, but from many other factors. Excerpted from a 1929 print ad.  For consignment, a 1929 Ford Model A Tudor Sedan showing 35,274 miles, but the true miles are unknown due to a PA title exemption. This all steel example was disassembled in 2000 and all parts were stripped to steel, primed and painted. It retains its numbers matching engine. Exterior A linguistic factoid always accompanies cars that are bathed in Kewanee Green which comes from the Winnebago native American word for Greater Prairie Chicken, and while the game birds were not green, the prairies in which they lived were! This Model A presents in two tone, bringing in Elkhart Green and contrasting black on the fenders, running boards, and vinyl top. Extra black coverage is afforded the 21-inch wire wheels including the rear mounted spare. Up front, another bird reference with the flying quail topping the radiator cap and shining bright over the polished shell. A black visor shades the vertical windshield and side mirrors are found on each A-pillar. The body and paint are excellent on the car but our intrepid photographer notes some imperfections that include some overspray on the back, inclusions, chips, peppered specks on the rear fender, and some orange peel.  Interior Gray cloth is the theme of the interior beginning on the handsome door panels, both carrying pleated pockets and box stitching. Buckets seats up front and the bench in back are both clean and unmarred, simple and welcoming. A four spoke steering wheel fronts the body colored dash with a central instrument cluster in polished faceplate that reflects like a mirror, and an extra gauge has been introduced below. The rubberized coating on the floor covers perfectly and is home to the tall shifter and handbrake. A tan mohair-like headliner is above and in great shape.  Drivetrain Continuing the clean party is the numbers matching 201ci inline four cylinder behind the covers, producing 40 horsepower and fueled by a 1-barrel carburetor. It's mated to a 3-speed manual transmission and power is routed to the rear axle with 3.78 gears.  Undercarriage No surprises here as a clean underside awaits our review. There's some residual fluid on the transmission but the remainder is clean and dry. Mechanical drum brakes are on all four wheels and transverse leaf springs are also front and rear. A single exhaust flows cleanly through a stock style muffler before terminating.  Drive-Ability Our theory that a car that looks this good will also run well bears out on the test loop where we find nothing to complain about. This 97 year old performs better than the pickleball champion at the Shady Retreat senior living facility across town and all functions operate as expected.
